Essaouira Day Trip from Marrakech

This drive will be something to remember. You’ll see camels and sheep grazing, and unique to this region are the infamous tree-climbing goats, munching on their favorite leaves. Your eyes won’t believe it as they navigate each branch of the Argan tree, taking them higher and higher. It is just amazing and funny! Be aware that some Moroccan herders stage the goats in the trees, and will want money from you, so just speak with your driver, he’ll lead you in the right direction. We can stop at an all-women cooperative selling Argan products such as oil, soaps, creams, moisturizers..etc. Argan oil is now increasingly used to replace olive oil with its rich and sweet nutty flavor and to top salads and tajines. More and more research is claiming it can be a useful tool that may help reduce cholesterol and prevent arteriosclerosis. The Amazigh women are way ahead of their time, having used Argan Oil for centuries. With its high content of vitamin E, it is great for the skin as an anti-wrinkle cream, for shampoo, and a moisturizer. It is also used for some skin conditions and heating oil.
Lastly, if you do nothing else, pick up a jar or “Amlou”. This combination of the oil, almonds, and honey is a delicacy, a fancier version of peanut butter, and it’s delicious.
